Update on Texas Governor Executive Orders as of 7/15/2020

The Texas Governor has issued numerous Executive Orders, including #28 and #29 on June 26 and July 2, respectively. Executive Order #29, at first glance, seems to restrict the size of crowds and require face masks, while playing recreational sports. However, the last paragraph of the Executive Order exempts certain other Executive orders, including #28 which is the one referencing outdoor recreational sports.

We have reached out to state and local government offices for clarification. To date we have received word from the two mayors and city attorneys, which their interpretation is that you do not have to wear face coverings when participating in games, but should wear them on the sidelines, and remain socially distanced on the sidelines. The guidelines on the North Texas Soccer website dated 7-2-2020 reflect that same interpretation.

As stated in the guidelines, you should also check with your local government and health departments to incorporate their decisions into the guidelines we have provided.

As new Executive Orders are established, we will continue to post them on our website, and make modifications to our guidelines to be in compliance with the State Executive Orders.
